17.09 – Australia ….

… or: “Life happens when you are busy making plans”

A race report of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Mooloolaba (Australia) will not happen.  Hospitalization just a week before departure forced me again down. I still went, but with far less baggage and with slight tears in my eyes. Participation would have still been feasible in theory, but my sanity spoke against it. “Everything happens for a reason”; always look ahead, so I tried to look forward to vacation; the first “non-competition / training-related” for over 5 years.

The tears have been gone in the meantime, the (short) time, that I, respectively we enjoyed, have been very diverse, chilling, thrilling and exciting. Although not an athletic point of view but perhaps you are still interested in the trip to the land of fairies and kangaroos. HERE is a link to a travel-/photo diary in which I kept the best moments (the text unfortunately only in German…).

After the premature termination of the holiday, I have to see if and how or ever I end the athletic season 2016 or if I finish “just” pleased with the few but still good results. Will come back to you, just need some rest right now 🙂

In this context again a very BIG thanks to Margaret, and my best friend Catherine and her husband Mark, who made us very friendly homestays in Currimundi respectively Seaforth (Sydney).
