10k run in Roth – Infinity-Sport Runners-Cup…

.. as hard preparation for Canada (s. Saturdays memo).

The absolute 10k dream is still a time just under 40 minutes, which is theoretically quite in -with pure focus on running. As I had the past few months no specific running training (particularly intervals up to 1000m) and because the summery temperatures (&hot wind) don’t speak for fast runs, for now a rather unrealistic goal!

In addition, the race was after a quantitative and qualitative stiff training-week my “icing in the cake”; I started the 5 lap course a 2km around the Rother city park on an end-time of 40.30min carefully, to see how it “runs”. The course is diverting, with its many curves though very demanding. I felt rather good in the first round (about 8min), but from the second round I had to realize that even an end-time under 41min is very tough.

Ultimately, I bitterly fought the remaining 8k, and entered the finish line exhausted only after 41:16min; 4th place (2nd place AK35). I was very disappointed, probably put myself under too much pressure. In return I am very happy to have great people around me, which showed me that I am just a human being and not a machine (with reference to the mental stress of the past three weeks). One bright spot: improving personal best (March 2013 – 41:17min) by 1 minute!

Today the world looks again quite different, only 4 weeks until the World Champs , a slightly botched rehearsal motivates me even more 🙂
