5.7 Triathlon Königsbrunn 1st Overall

Only a brief summary over my training race at Triathlon Königsbrunn (500m swim, 18km bike, 5km run) where I started as “titleholder” (2014: 1.03.34h). Due to SUMMER (yippie) we had a wetsuit-ban but I did swim still 20” faster than last year, but still only 8th out of the water. Never mind, we know this game … It wasn’t too easy on the bike, my thighs signaled “be careful”, therefore driven with caution but 4-5 rankings forwards.

When changing to the run I had lost track of the girls, had overtaken one competitor in the transition area and thought I was in front. Nope, at km 2 I “met” an acquaintance who said, “Speed up, there is still one up front”. Well, continued to run, which went with a 4min/km pace again very smooth today. At km3 I had the later 2nd place finisher (11 years younger) caught up and then won with more than 40 ” lead and an end time of 1.02,31h! “Age does not protect against speediness 🙂” Later this year, in fall, I am going to run a single-marathon and looking already very much forward to it.

So now, finally Triathlon European Championships in Geneva. I look forward to yet another very great experience, even if it will be a swatter (Top 10 AK would be cool). Those things will happen when you measure yourself on a very high level. You know where you are 🙂
