Teufelsberglauf Munich – 9.11.14

After very mediocre weeks with mental and physical up and downs, I decided spontaneously on Sunday morning to complete a race (running).  Logically, I felt better, the thyroid, the supposed to be main problem is reset and so I had the proper desire to run. Quickly picked up the OK from the coach and so I went after the swim training for the 40th year anniversary of Munich’s “Teufelsberglauf(cross run).

Given the fact that I am competing at Challenge Bahrain (Halfdistance) in four weeks’ time, I opted for the shorter “Hobby-run” over the 4,700m. In these 2 laps you have to cope with the hill Teufelsberg twice.

The case that „hobby-runs ” become more and more strong runners to test their form or – like me – use it as a hard training run , I also got to feel. From the beginning I had a head -to-head duel with the former French hurdles-runner Audrey, which ended for with a second place in 18.58min ( +17” on the winner ). To kick off the triathlon season, the highlight is the Ironman Nice in late June 2015, for me a very respectable performance, with which I am very happy 🙂

Also, quite outstanding were the results of my two club mates Paul Gunter and Rene Pfaffner, which contested the 10km main run. Paul, as the defending champion, had to admit defeat to an Italian Cross-specialists and placed 2nd after 35:39min (only 29sec behind)! Rene finished the race equally respectable and was just after 38:35min 8th!
