13.02 – Race season started …
Or “I do not have to understand everything in this world”
As recently “promised” or “threatened”, it happened today. After 4 months of a sporting life crisis (as formerly report, but now it’s good …) I have now tied the race-shoes again at the 20km run of the Munich winter running series. Why already 20km? Quite simply, a) I prepare for a triathlon long distance; b) I am a self-proclaimed diesel and c) 10km hurt proportional simply more 🙂
Well, exactly 2 units pace I had intus until since then. Yet tonight plagued me again extreme back pain and night sweats. “You never know, if you made it, until you tried it“. True to this motto I went to Munich, because I thought to myself, I have to try and test now where I am. More than going wrong cannot happen?
I had a rough pace goal. Tackle the first lap in about 4.20min per km, then increase the second and third of the total 4 5km laps to 4:15 to 4:12 and look at the end, where the power remains. That would have been in the end of something like 1.27-1.28h total. But what do I do? Running cheerful and easy going, the first lap in 20.45min (4.09min). If that doesn’t go wrong… In the second lap, still all good, easy pulse still in Endurance area, time clocked after 20.48min, 4.10min overall until then. Well over target. That’s why I cut back in the third round – every lap about 30 high meters or 3 climbs – to recover heart rate (21.07min). When I entered the final lap everything was still fine, I had the sensation of lying, still in good mood and just wanted to enjoy that come-back. Therefore, the last 5km in 19.57min, total 1.23,06 which corresponds to a half-marathon and thus a new personal best of 1.27,34. In addition, the wonderful side effect of 6th in total and 1st place of Agegroup 40.
No, do not understand. Just know, that “Giving up is never an option in live”
